Reuters' Earnings Flat, Tibco Down 30%, Globex To Be Axed

Reuters' just-released earnings report for 1996 contains some items of note. For one, revenue for its Tibco subsidiary fell 30 per cent, after soaring 71 per cent the year before. Revenues overall were a modest 8 per cent higher, compared to 15 per cent growth in 1995. And Reuters indicated it would probably discontinue Globex in 1998.

The vendor's earnings report shows that revenue grew 8 per cent during 1996, to $5 billion. This compares to Reuters' revenue growth of 15 per cent in 1995, to $4
