Tel Aviv Backs Up With Compaq

TEL AVIV--The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) has consolidated its technology backup operations to a single dedicated site hosted by Compaq, eliminating a second backup site with IBM. The exchange will also introduce wireless connectivity for members in the first half of this year.

After switching its trading mainframe supplier from IBM to Compaq in 1997, TASE had two backup sites, one from IBM and one from Compaq. It decided to drop the IBM site and make Compaq its sole contingency facility to
