Jury Is Out On Apple/Next Mix

Apple Computer's decision to buy Next Software for $400 million and rehire Steve Jobs came as something as a surprise last month. Many pundits are hailing Apple's purchase of a company with such a widely hailed operating system, i.e. Nextstep, as a tremendous shot in the arm for Apple. But Apple's Macintosh computers have never taken hold on Wall Street. Thus, some Wall Street firms wonder if the Apple/Next mix will really make a difference.
