Thailand's BEX to Offer Real-Time Data

EXCHANGE WATCH

The Bond Electronic Exchange in Thailand will offer real-time information from its Firsts (Fixed Income and Related Securities Trading System) trading platform, which is due to launch by the end of this year.

"The dominant feature of Firsts is that it will enable market participants to gain real-time trading information [and] hence be able to make more efficient investment decisions," says Santi Kiranand, CEO of BEX.

Real-time data will include price, calculating yield, value and volume, which will be displayed on the Firsts front end, says Wacharawan Panwatanasakul, assistant vice president at BEX.

Dealers will be able to see all of the quotations that are distributed by the main board, which is a dealer-to-dealer market, as well as the dealer-to-client board. Clients can only view quotes that they have requested from dealers, Panwatanasakul says.

She says trading data will be available on an end-of-day basis for free. "In the first phase, we will absorb cost to promote the new system. However, the subscribers have to pay for the network themselves," she says, which she estimates at about THB10,000 per month.

Currently no vendors have yet agreed to distribute the data.

The Firsts platform is based on the Central Electronic Trading Platform, which was originally developed by the Thai Bond Dealing Centre.
