After Release Of 3Q Earnings, Dow Jones Touts Plan To Cut R&D

Dow Jones & Co.'s information services segment is hanging in there, according to the vendor's third-quarter earnings report -- and the parent company is telling its shareholders to expect results to improve. To deliver on that promise, Dow Jones Telerate is planning to cut its research and development budget -- and to limit the amount of pricing concessions it grants customers.

Beyond lessening discounts to increase revenues, the vendor is pursuing a strategy of trimming information services'
