FISD Seeks Feedback on Legal Entity Identifiers

ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT

The Financial Information Services Division (FISD) has sent a discussion paper on Legal Entity Identifiers (LEI) to approximately 300 individuals to gather feedback on defining the inter relationships between legal entities, issuers and products.

The paper proposes the use of a new identifier, the LEI, to be based on the logic of the Bank Identifier Code (BIC), which identifies banking messages.
