Saying Goodbye to Co-Location?

A number of the global exchanges have already introduced a virtual 100 yards within their architecture to make sure that all firms co-locating within their facilities have a fair chance to be the first one to the matching engine. The easiest and most logical thing to do would probably be to extend this distance so that servers co-located in the exchange's datacenter and those located within a few network hops experience the same amount of message latency.

But does the SEC realize the knock-on
