As the year winds down, it’s a good idea to look back and review the events of the previous 12 months to try to identify trends that might emerge in the coming year. When 2003 dawned just 52 weeks ago, there were a few, if surreal, certainties: We would be at war unless a diplomatic miracle occurred, layoffs would continue apace and the economy would be stuck in neutral. Now, with the war over and signs that the economy might be rebounding, we can look back and breathe a tentative sigh of relief
