Retired Sen. Fred Thompson (R—Tenn.) has been elected Nasdaq 's board of directors to fill a Class 1 vacancy, which ends in May 2007, along with the re-election of the electronic stock market's Class 1 directors—H. Furlong Baldwin, Robert Greifeld, Thomas M. Joyce and Arvind Sodhani. Thompson served in the US Senate for more than eight years and was Chairman of the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs from January 1997 to June 2001.
