Thomson Announces Upgrade To Portia: UNIX, RDBMS, GUI Are Scheduled For Roll Out
PORTFOLIO SYSTEMS
Thomson Financial Services Inc. has embarked on a program to upgrade its Portia portfolio management system, engaging a client advisory committee to lend a hand. The result will be Portable Portia, which, as expected, will make Portia's currently DOS-based software available in a UNIX environment.
According to Jim Kelly, director of Portia research and development, in addition to placing Portia on a UNIX platform, Thomson programmers will add a relational database and a graphical user interface
