SEC Hires New Chief Data Officer

Austin Gerig (pictured) is to start as the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) chief data officer on February 3. Dr Gerig is currently assistant director of the agency’s office of data science in the Division of Economic and Risk Analysis and has been with the SEC for over five years.

In his new role, Gerig will help to develop data management strategy and priorities, as well as data analytics and policymaking.
