In the 1980s comedy classic Groundhog Day, Bill Murray's jaded weatherman is doomed to re-live the same day over and over. Well, the life of a financial technology journalist can often feel very similar.

While we don't live the exact same day on a loop, we are at the daily coal face of the technology hype cycle and it's pretty hard not to get cynical about certain trends that simply won't quit. I'm speaking, of course, about distributed-ledger technology (DLT), aka Blockchain.
