Often, when introducing a topic, she'll lead into it by talking about a separate issue that has similar nuances or implications. And like a good whodunit, you won't see the main topic coming. And frustrating as this tactic sometimes is for anyone who just wants to get straight to the point, as someone whose job involves providing context around news stories, I have to admire her creativity for drawing (often historical) parallels between seemingly separate issues.
