Standard Chartered Hires Symantec's McGuire as Group CISO
Cheri McGuire appointed as new chief information security officer, information protection and cyber security are “top priorities."
McGuire joins the bank from security software vendor Symantec, where she held the position of vice president of global government affairs and cyber security policy for six years, and prior to that held positions with Microsoft's Trustworthy Computing Group and the US Department of Homeland Security. McGuire will be based in London and report directly to Standard Chartered group CIO Michael Gorriz.
In her new role, effective from June, McGuire will be responsible for Standard Chartered's information and cyber security governance, strategy, regulatory engagement, policy development, training and awareness, as well as being accountable for the bank's information security monitoring, third party risk management and vulnerability assessments.
"At Standard Chartered, information protection and cyber security are our top priorities," said Gorriz in a statement. "McGuire brings with her more than 25 years of experience in industry and government roles and will be a valuable addition to our team."
