Aganbegyan was previously president of the Moscow Stock Exchange, where over several years between 2008 and 2010 he supervised the merger, including technology integration, of Micex and RTS. He was also operational chief in Russia for Renaissance Capital for seven years, and has held roles with Credit Suisse and Clifford Chance having graduated from Moscow State Law Academy in 1995.

"Ruben is one of the industry's strongest managers; he has a great deal of experience in leading large financial institutions and extensive knowledge of Russian markets. As part of our continued expansion, Otkritie is committed to hiring the best talent from across the industry and Ruben's appointment is a perfect example of this. We are confident he will help us achieve our ambitious goals and provide our clients with exceptional service," says the firm's founder, Vadim Belyaev.

Another hire within that expansion, Mikhail Sokhobok, headed up the firm's global electronic trading earlier this year.
