FactSet Research Systems has acquired StreetAccount, a Jackson, WY-based provider of company news and industry datasets, to expand its proprietary news and commentary content.

StreetAccount -- whose data is already distributed exclusively by FactSet -- provides company news and alerts, portfolio and sector filtering capabilities, email alerts on topics and indexes, market summaries, event and earnings calendars, and a database of drug approvals and trials, as well as industry-specific metrics, such as same-store sales, airline traffic and capacity, and telecom and cable subscription metrics.

Goran Skoko, director of product development for market data at FactSet, says the deal is a "natural fit" for FactSet, which is "in line with FactSet's long-term commitment to investing in unique content sets," and will complement existing news content from Dow Jones on its platform.
