A key element when benchmarking future network capacity needs is the Options Price Reporting Authority’s statements. In July 2010, OPRA forecast that firms wanting an unthrottled, complete, real-time feed of OPRA data would need network capacity of 1 Gigabit per second by January 2011, and that capacity needs would increase to 1.34 Gbps by January 2012, and the volume of messages per second would increase from four million at the start of 2010 to five million by 2012.
