PaineWebber Readies Three Trading Floors For Triarch Upgrades As Part Of IT Infrastructure Overhaul

NEW YORK--As part of a major IT overhaul, PaineWebber will be opening three trading rooms for the fixed income, equities and municipal bond desks in New York, and will be using the Reuters' Triarch digital data distribution system and the Kobra object-oriented front-end software to service a total of 700 traders, say officials at PaineWebber.

The overhaul is only one part of five major IT infrastructure initiatives that PaineWebber started planning in 1996, says CIO and executive vice president
