This year has seen a shakeout among financial technology vendors as competitors got together in multi-million-dollar mergers to combine profit bases and cut costs. As dire market conditions lead to lower bank IT spending, vendors are seeking new avenues to expand their businesses while gaining the benefits of shared infrastructures and business functions.

The year began with a $115 million deal between middleware providers Talarian and Tibco that brought together under one roof flagship
