Thomson Appoints COO, Shakes Up Business Groups
As part of a realignment that includes the sell-off of Thomson Learning, James Smith, currently president and CEO of Thomson Learning's Academic and Reference group has been appointed COO of Thomson Corp., responsible for the vendor's remaining business groups, including Thomson Financial. As a result, Thomson Financial CEO Sharon Rowlands now reports to Smith, rather than to Thomson Corp. president and CEO Richard Harrington.
