Thain Takes Reins at NYSE

Replacing the ousted Richard Grasso, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) recently named former president of Goldman Sachs, John Thain, CEO of the exchange to replace interim CEO John Reed, who had said he would stay on until a replacement could be found. Thain has a reputation on Wall Street for a strong pro-technology bent; he headed Goldman’s technology and operations throughout the 1990s and was instrumental in developing its electronic trading systems, analysts say.
