Wanted: Well-qualified candidates to fill IT positions at US investment firms.

Competition is fierce among the major players in the financial services industry to recruit skilled workers to fill vacancies in their IT departments. This staffing struggle reflects a general trend in IT hiring across all industries, say recruiting managers and other observers. The situation is approaching pre-Y2K levels, when 10 to 20 percent of IT jobs went unfilled, says Robin Pickering, regional recruiting manager
