Data Key to Nasdaq's Boston Stock Exchange Acquisition

NEW YORK-Nasdaq officials say the exchange will leverage quote data and symbology assets acquired via its $61 million purchase of the Boston Stock Exchange in October to increase data revenues and attract new listings.

One reason for the purchase is that it gives Nasdaq access to Tape B listings and symbology, which contains company tickers in one-, two-, or three-character symbols, similar to those of the NYSE. Nasdaq executive vice president of transaction services Chris Concannon says this
