Distributed ledger project hopes to digitize shareholder processes for paper-based markets

The project is being led by Borsa Italiana, which is owned by the London Stock Exchange Group.

Borsa Italiana, owned by the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), is leading the project with IBM, which is at a proof-of-concept stage and has been built using Hyperledger Fabric. The project aims to create a registry of shareholder transactions on a distributed-ledger technology layer, which the firms believe will have a transformational effect on shareholder transactions in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Europe.
