Equinix Outlines Expanded London Presence

The vendor's acquisition of Telecity's locations will provide added capacity in the London area as Equinix brings phase two of its LD6 site in Slough online.

The expansion will add about 1,385 cabinets of rack space, and should be completed this quarter, says Eric Schwartz, president of Equinix in EMEA.

Schwartz says the development at LD6 marries nicely with the facilities that the datacenter provider acquired from UK-based counterpart Telecity, which Equinix purchased for $3.8 billion in January (IMD, Jan. 18). Two facilities in London-one in the city's Docklands district, and one in Park Royal-are also now providing capacity for Equinix customers
