Tradestar Pits Student Traders Against Computer Exchange

Roque-Saliba Inc., a Chicago-based marketing organization, has developed an options trading simulator that lets neophyte traders work in an open-outcry environment without capital risk. Called Tradestar, the system runs on a stand- alone PC and uses speech recognition technology to communicate with the student trader.

Pitched as a flight-simulator for traders, Tradestar was designed to mimic the competitive auction environment of the Chicago Board Options Exchange. It was implemented by JVW
