About 180 golfers made a supreme sacrifice and gave up a day of work to compete during Reuters' annual charity golf day in Hong Kong two weeks ago. Reuters' dinner the same evening attracted about 450 guests, who were asked to show their willingness to sacrifice in a less sunny manner. In a charity auction conducted at the affair, the highest bid went to an African safari, which fetched HK$120,00 ($15,500),--more than tea and tennis with Hong Kong's Governor Chris Patten.
