WestLB Begins Outsourcing to HP

LONDON—German banking giant WestLB and Hewlett-Packard (HP) are taking their first steps in implementing a massive outsourcing contract signed last year.

Outsourcing deals of this magnitude—$500 million and a five-year commitment—may be few and far between over the coming years as the industry shifts to smaller outsourcing arrangements, observers say.

For WestLB, HP will support approximately 1,000 trading-related desktops (DWT, Oct. 25, 2004). Under the terms of the agreement, 450 WestLB staff
