Japanese Institutions Express Interest In Adopting FIX Protocol

TOKYO--Backers of the Financial Information Exchange protocol are encouraging Japanese brokers and asset managers to adopt their trade-communications message standard. As part of this effort, James Leman, a Salomon Smith Barney managing director, and co-chair of the US FIX Steering Committee spent a week in Japan earlier this month, where he met with several financial institutions in that country to gauge their interest in the protocol.
