NY Exchanges Restore Data Connections

NEW YORK--New York exchanges appear to have suffered few data-related effects from the World Trade Center attacks.

The New York Mercantile Exchange, situated in the adjacent World Financial Center complex, did not lose any data, says spokesperson Nachamah Jacobovits.

Jacobovits says many data vendors had lost their circuits, and distribution was limited to a smaller number of carriers than usual. Live data was not sent over the Internet workaround because data sales are a major source of revenue
