NYSE, Tokyo Stock Exchange Ink Strategic Alliance

NEW YORK—Having taken Europe by storm with its merger with Euronext, NYSE Group has set its sights on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE), as the two bourses last week signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that outlines a strategic alliance but falls short of a merger.

"It will create new opportunities to trade multi-asset-class products, [and] will bring greater liquidity and improve access for investors to our markets," says NYSE Group CEO John Thain.
