Among the members that have recently joined AltExchange are Aberdeen SVG, Apollo Global Management, Carlyle Group, CVC Capital Partners, Encore Funds, Franklin park, Lupton Company, Partners Group AG, Pine Brook Partners, and TPG Global. That group includes several mainstay GPs managing $50 billion or greater, as well as PE specialists such as Partners Group, which focuses on middle market direct investments.

“The opportunity to help finalize the AltExchange Standard was an important reason for our joining now. As investors’ needs increase this initiative will enable us to have a common data format that saves time and resources for both GPs and LPs, while providing more useful data to our LPs," says Thomas Mayrhofer, CFO of corporate private equity at Carlyle Group.

The genesis of AltExchange as well as particulars of the planned data standard were covered in depth earlier this summer in BST's sibling publication, Waters.
