IMF calls for more transparency from the hedge fund industry

LONDON -- In its 10th meeting held in Washington in early October, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) added its voice to the increasing number of bodies calling for greater understanding of hedge funds and hedge fund activities. At the two-day gathering, chaired by UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown, the IMF said: "Improving information and transparency in markets, including the role of hedge funds, would help strengthen market surveillance."
