Barclays Global Investors opened an 18,000-square-foot data center in Sacramento, replacing two existing sites, one in Sacramento, and the other at its headquarters in San Francisco. The old 1,400-square-foot Sacramento site was used mainly as a disaster recovery and backup center, while the 2,800-square-foot San Francisco data center still supported the trading and handled some file- and print-server functions for BGI’s Windows NT servers.
