Waters Rankings 2024 winner’s interview: SS&C Advent

SS&C Advent won two categories in the Waters Rankings 2024: Best buy-side order management system (OMS) provider and Best accounting system provider. Karen Geiger, co-general manager, SS&C Advent, discusses the wins:

• The first of SS&C’s two wins in this year’s Waters Rankings came in the Best buy-side OMS provider category, thanks to its Eze OMS offering. How does the firm maintain Eze OMS’s appeal in what it has to be said is a pretty saturated and unforgiving OMS market?
• SS&C’s second win came in the Best accounting system provider category, courtesy of its twin accounting offerings: Advent Portfolio Exchange and Geneva. These products are similar in that they fall under the portfolio accounting umbrella, yet they are also markedly different in their functionalities and the markets they serve. What are the key differences and how have they evolved in recent years?
• What are the biggest pain points for clients, irrespective of their size and assets under management? What challenges are they facing on a day-to-day basis in what is a highly competitive investment management industry?
