IMD & IRD Awards 2022: Best market data provider (vendor)—Bloomberg

OVERVIEW

B-Pipe, Bloomberg’s flagship market data feed, delivers consolidated and normalized real-time streaming prices (including full order book) to service the full spectrum of front-office use-cases, including execution, pricing, risk, portfolio accounting and display blotters.

“In our transformation journey, one of our largest challenges to tackle has been enhancing our data capabilities, given the increasingly important role that data access and delivery speed plays in the decision-making process. Bloomberg has been an important partner for us in this process, and we are excited to onboard its industry-leading data feed and management tools, which will meet these needs while minimizing overall cost.”
Andreas Behmann, market data optimization project head, Norddeutsche Landesbank

THE SOLUTION

Via geographically dispersed local ticker plants, B-Pipe provides low-latency access to 35 million instruments across all asset classes, aggregated from more than 330 exchanges and over 5,000 contributors, as well as proprietary Bloomberg pricing sources and market indices.

B-Pipe features broad, high-quality data coverage and reliability, supplementing market data with unique content. It includes features such as time-sliced VWAP, real-time volatility analysis and liquidity analytics services.

Customers can use all of its services in proprietary applications as well as with the hundreds of third-party and proprietary applications that come pre-integrated with its datasets.

B-Pipe market data is delivered via the Bloomberg Real-Time Platform. Its market data technology is deployment agnostic; customers can run applications in many environments with consistent entitlements and a single common API. It can be offered as a managed service, via a Bloomberg-hosted serverless solution, or via public cloud-native solutions.

WHAT’S TO COME

Bloomberg will further expand its market data content and supplement market data with datasets that solve specific business needs. In addition, its roadmap focuses on offering managed technology that enables customers to run their applications anywhere with a consistent experience; and providing tools to help reduce the operational burden of managing feeds and automate internal work streams.

WHY THEY WON

It is no coincidence that Bloomberg regularly features in the winners’ circle of the best market data provider in these and other WatersTechnology awards. The sheer depth and breadth of the data it offers its client is unmatched across the financial services industry, while the ease with which firms can consume and integrate that data into their daily workflows makes Bloomberg the logical choice for firms on both sides of the market.

“Bloomberg continues to be an industry leader in real-time content, technology, and service delivery. We continuously enhance our Real-Time Platform, enabling customers to automate more of their workflows with the highest quality data while benefiting from our flexible and scalable delivery options, whether that’s deployed or in the cloud.”
Keith Bunnell, global head of Real Time Products, Bloomberg
