Buy-Side Technology Awards 2016: Best Data Provider to the Buy Side—RIMES Technologies
RIMES continues to dominate the best data provider category with its 10th consecutive win at the BST Awards.

It takes a certain type of mindset to be able to demonstrate consistent quality in data services and the judges were impressed once again with the methods and depth with which RIMES has set about providing its data offerings to the buy side throughout the last year, as well as its continued efforts to improve its service portfolio at a time when regulatory and compliance burdens are of increasing concern.
The RIMES Managed Data Service (MDS) is at the heart of the company’s offering and now boasts over 300 users, as well as vital partnerships that together deliver 1,000 data sources from over 200 data partners, into over 60 third-party solutions and many in-house systems.
The RIMES MDS capabilities were enhanced this year through the rollout of the Managed Feeds Workstation, aimed at increasing data governance best practices through online access to an extensive set of RIMES benchmark and feed inventory reports and operational tools.
As well as rolling out the Managed Feeds Workstation, RIMES is set to launch a new Benchmark Analytics Workstation, an add-on subscription service that will provide users with fast and easy viewing of the benchmarks provided in RIMES MDS feeds. At launch, the information available will include reports on constituents, returns and reconstitutions, leading to improved front- and middle-office decision-making and increased efficiency in specialist benchmark and reference data for individual business needs.
In September, RIMES launched its specialist managed service for buy-side compliance officers: RIMES RegFocus. The service is designed specifically to reduce the risk of insider dealing and market manipulation, in accordance with the new Market Abuse Regulation, which came into force in July this year, and ESMA regulatory technical standards. RegFocus utilizes algorithms and analytics to deliver buy-side compliance teams with a comprehensive review across trading activities, monitoring and detecting behavior across multiple exchanges and asset classes, including exchange-traded funds (ETFs), benchmarks, indices, and portfolio rebalancing activities.

RIMES Technologies was also a recipient of the BST Awards’ inaugural “service to the industry awards,” which acknowledge exceptional consistency over the years in the BST Awards and service to the industry in general.
