Guardian IT Disaster Recovery Looks to Sungard For "Business Continuity"

LONDON--Sungard Availability Solutions is trying to buy troubled rival disaster recovery center operator Guardian IT. Sungard’s offer of 80 pence per share for Guardian values the UK firm at around £168 million. Sungard expects to close the deal within 90 days. Guardian shares on the London Stock Exchange rose 20 percent to 79 pence on the news, having fallen from around 900 pence in May last year.
