Reuter's Complaint Lacks Merit Says Justice Dept.; Gives Clearance To AT&T-Telerate Joint Venture

The antitrust division of the U.S. Department of Justice has dismissed Reuters' legal challenge to AT&T's participation in a joint venture with Telerate Inc. to create and market a foreign exchange trading service.
The Reuters' complaint claimed that the Telerate-AT&T Global Transaction Service constituted electronic publishing, and thereby violated the terms of the modified final judgment (MFJ) governing the breakup of the Bell system.
