US Commission Considers New Rules As Electronic Trading Crosses Borders

WASHINGTON--Increasing interest from non-US exchanges seeking to extend themselves via electronic terminals outside of their home countries has prompted the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to consider issuing new rules.

"We've had a tremendous number of inquires from foreign exchanges to place terminals in the US, and they want to do so in a way where they would not have to become full-scale CFTC registrants," says Michael Greenberger, director of the commission's trading and
