Tired Of Waiting For H-P/Next's Unix/Risc Developments, Swiss Bank Corp. Opts To Run NeXTstep On PCS Firmwide

SWISS Bank Corp./O'Connor has abandoned its plans to deploy NeXT Inc.'s NeXTstep operating environment on Hewlett-Packard Co.'s UNIX/RISC workstations. According to SBC/O'C information systems executives in London and New York, the bank opted off H-P RISC because it felt that NeXT and H-P were not near enough completing the integration of the two systems. The bank will continue to use NeXTstep, but will run it instead on Intel Corp. CISC-based processors. The bank does intend, however, to buy
