Barra Discontinues GAT Products As It Focuses On Enterprise-Wide Business

BERKELEY, Calif.--Barra's decision to discontinue the Precision and Decision products it acquired from Global Advanced Technology two years ago caused the company to take a $4 million write-off from its results for the fourth quarter of its 1999 fiscal year, which ended March 31.
The write-off led to a loss of $739,000 on sales of $40.6 million for the quarter. In the same quarter a year earlier, Barra earned $4.8 million on sales of $36.3 million. But for the fiscal year, Barra's earnings jumped
