Buy-Side Technology Awards: Best Buy-Side OMS—ConvergEx’s Eze OMS
Eze Castle Software’s victory in this category is something of an upset as it has managed to supplant Charles River Development, which had won the previous four Buy-Side Technology awards for best buy-side OMS. There’s good reason for this change, too. Eze Castle’s Eze OMS offering has undergone a number of significant enhancements, with several plans for future upgrades.
The company has been one of the first to tap into the power of the Apple iPad. In October it unveiled a native app available on iTunes that allows clients to access core functionality of the OMS. Eze OMS has also seen model enhancements for scalability and in its frameworks. Rob Keller, managing director and head of global product management at ConvergEx’s Eze Castle Software, says the company has made significant investments over the last two years to make the OMS more scalable, thus allowing Eze Castle to configure the system to meet the needs of just about any buy-side institution, including large asset managers, pension funds, hedge funds and niche asset management houses.
Eze Castle has also finished the first phase of a data management overhaul, having built out its reference data management and performance data management capabilities.
“Traditionally, the OMS has relied on third-party systems for that data,” Keller says. “We’ve rolled out our security master, reference data master, and performance manager, which allows us to do contribution analysis and historical reporting.”
Additionally, Eze Castle has seen significant growth in the Asia-Pacific region after opening offices in Sydney and Singapore. According to the company, of the five largest hedge funds in the region, three are Eze OMS customers. The Boston-based vendor has also enhanced its compliance functionality with new rule libraries for China and Brazil; ownership disclosure rule libraries for 60 countries; increased support for multi-asset compliance; and a revamped user interface.
Eze OMS was also selected by end-users as the best buy-side OMS at this year’s Waters Rankings—ConvergEx’s Eze OMS won with 34 percent of the vote, edging out Charles River Development (22 percent) and Linedata (19 percent). —AM
