Equinix to Open Tokyo Datacenter

The new 725-cabinet facility will be Equinix's fifth site in the city.

The new Equinix facility, which will be dubbed TY5 and is slated to open in the first quarter of 2016, will cover 54,663 square feet, and ultimately provide space for 725 server cabinets, with 350 of these available in the first phase.

The site of the new datacenter is close to the Japan Exchange and the Tokyo Commodity Exchange, as well as to the vendor's TY3 datacenter, and will have direct connectivity to existing services and client installations already hosted in TY3, Equinix officials say
