Fidessa Signs Five for China Connect

Shanghai
China Connect marks an important opening of the Chinese market, long anticipated among investors.

The brokers, including Standard Chartered Securities and ICBC, will use Fidessa to trade shares on mainland China. The program, known as China Connect, will open up the Chinese markets to institutional and retail investors, having previously been limited to those with QFII licenses, which required a lengthy and complicated process to obtain. It will also allow mainland investors, in turn, to trade Hong Kong.

"Fidessa recognised the potential for this early on", says David Jenkins, head of product marketing at Fidessa in Asia-Pacific. "But implementing this link successfully involves additional technology infrastructure, as well as new tools and processes right across the front, middle and back office, in order to take full advantage of the Shanghai market."
