Nomura Shrinks Latency with ‘Westmere' Processor

The firm recently completed benchmark tests, which demonstrated up to a 35 percent reduction in latency when it ran the applications on the new processors, which had formerly been codenamed "Westmere."

The tests were designed to replicate a co-located trading environment with cross-connected access to a simulated matching engine, and isolated the performance benefits of running Nomura's application software on the Westmere chipset versus the previous generation of Intel hardware.
