The trouble in the credit market resulting from last year's sub-prime crisis has heightened demand for price discovery and more transparency to support an "orderly, transparent market," while clients are increasingly seeking independent sources for prices, rather than just single-dealer marks, said Ben Fortunato, director of market data at fixed-income trading platform TradeWeb.

Meanwhile, UK-based vendor Markit has seen greater demand for cleaner and more frequent data over the past 12-18 months
