Industry Unfazed by BlackBerry Outage

More than 8 million subscribers in North America were unable to send or receive e-mails or access the Internet for approximately three hours. The service outage began at approximately 3:30 p.m. local time and was restored at 6:30 p.m., according to a spokesperson from BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIM). Voice and text-messaging services were not affected, adds the official.
