THIS WEEK'S LEAD STORIES

Femcon Associates of Boston has designed an entry-level version of its COLT -- Continuous On-Line Trading -- system for over-the-counter market makers. It runs on low-end fault-tolerant hardware being unveiled by Stratus Computer Inc. this week.

The cost of installing COLT Release M, dubbed "mini-COLT," will be under $400,000, 30-40 percent less than the original COLT. Release M can be upgraded to the current release of original COLT using Stratus OLTP systems.
