SEC's Berman: Let Data Allay Investors' Fears, Drive Test Pilots

Berman, who referenced his recent speech on equities market structure at the North American Trading Architecture Summit in April as a starting point, noted that many of the issues afflicting the two asset classes are different. But the common thread, he said, is more objective analysis of data.

"We have to disentangle confidence in market structure, which as regulators we can affect, from confidence in the market, itself," he said. "I haven't ended any conversation in the past couple years
